Percutaneous Localizer
The Percutaneous Localizer is a flexible, radiopaque grid intended for use in CT to locate a desired skin entry point. The localizer is placed in the image plane approximately overlying the target lesion. Once the patient has been withdrawn from the gantry, the Percutaneous Localizer aids the physician in locating the desired skin entry point using any image of the target area. The geometry of the grid as it appears on the subsequent images allows the user to locate an entry point in one plane by measuring the distance between the last dot and the triangular bar. The level of the chosen targeting image also may be identified on the skin surface. An accurate desired entry point on the skin may be identified completely with only one set of CT images. The localizer may be autoclaved, sterilized or disinfected using Cidex or Cidex OPA. Patent pending.
